Contracts

Jisc Procureweb manages the GeM contract
repository for the sector. The GeM contract repository replaces the
old CuPID system and provides a controlled environment for users
within the Higher and Further Education sectors to search for
approved supplier information.
The GeM contracts system contains a wealth of information for
dealing with suppliers, such as buyers guides and pricing
information. The system contains both nationally and regionally
negotiated contracts; it allows local institutions to add their own
local contracts as well. Each institution has complete control over
their data and can choose to opt-out of any agreements that
they do not want users to buy from.
The GeM contracts system works either
as a stand-alone system or can fully integrate with the
GeM eMarketplace. This allows users to view and buy products
and services from specified contracted suppliers in a controlled
environment, using corporate procurement cards.
The new contracts database gives users:
Control
Institutions have complete control over what contracts their
users can see. They are able to opt-out of regional and
national contracts at the click of a button. They can add
local contracts to the system to create a simple controlled
environment for users to search for preferred supplier data.
Simplicity
Much of the complexity that was involved in managing the data in
CuPID has been removed, and the contracts database is now simpler
to use. Users can now create contract data, workflows and specific
permissions using simple to follow wizards, which makes managing
contract data intuitive and easy.
Speed
The contracts database is a self-serve system and all
functionality can be quickly and simply managed by
institution users.
You can access GeM at http://www.gem.ac.uk
* The contracts database allows local contracts to be added to
the system without charge for the first 50 HE institutions, and the
first 10 FE institutions. Beyond these numbers, each institution
will have to pay a small fee when uploading local contracts. HEI's
who already have in excess of this number of contracts on CuPID
will have them processed and included without a charge.
